Beautiful Person | January-March 1991 | Song #154

Refrain:
I am a beautiful person
I am a part of all that is
I accept the abundance of creation
And the infinite gifts it gives

I can not love you if I hate myself
I can not give to you if I am poor
I can not heal the world if I have no health
I can not bring you peace by bringing you war

Refrain

I am the lion that I saw in my dream
I unleash the hidden power in me
I am the universe just beyond my eyes
That I am only beginning to see

Refrain

I am a joyful emotion
Too huge to be contained in me
I spark across the mountains and the oceans
To the edges of the galaxy

Refrain

Commentary: This is the original version of Beautiful Person from my Visions and Voices CD, arranged by Gene Moore. At the time I was just beginning to do the deep inner work that would eventually allow me to share my music with others. This song basically came out of a place that was deeper that the self hate I had wallowed in up to that point. On the morning after our historical 2008 presidential election electing Barack Obama I think it does us good to really get this message into our heads. Each and every one of us is a “Beautiful Person” and when we truly give ourselves to living on purpose and fulfilling our greatest hopes and dreams we bring hope and light to this world in crisis. I am sorry to have been out of contact. I have been working on a few things here as well. I am still staying the path and working on my goals and challenges! You and your training have helped me and helped me to continue helping others. You are a beautiful person and I am honored to call you my friend. Keep on keeping on and keep on writing.

  16. Hey there Mark,

Don’t know if you remember me. We met in Wayne Kelly’s On Air Publicity course. I’ve been really appreciating the work that you do since we touched base in Wayne’s group.

As a fellow NLPer, I love the brilliant idea you came up with to combine your music with teaching.

Right now I’m finishing up my book, “Lovin’ the Skin You’re In: The Juicy Woman’s Guide to Making Peace with Food and Friends with Your Body.” I’d be honored to include this song and your credits in my chapter on Creating Safe Feelings in Your Body. What do you say? Wanna come play in my sandbox? Let me know, my friend.

    Warmest regards and much gratitude,

    Andrea

  18. Mark, thank you SO much for sharing this wonderful video! The song and your voice are powerful and beautiful, but the photos of a wonderfully diverse cross-section of humanity from across the globe really add to the cumulative power of this piece.

Wonderful; I’ve added it to my Favorites, and tweeted it out to my followers.

  19. Mark Shepard says:

Thank YOU so much! I very much appreciate every bit of help in getting this music out into the ears and hearts of as many people as possible. If you read my story you know I’m a bit of a late bloomer! In a business dominated by artists in their 20′s my only hope is to go directly to the people and by pass the record labels and “Music Industry” altogether.

thank you , thank you, thank you!

Told you Dec 1 that my heart rec’d this and soaked it in..adding the video takes it even deeper( and I didn’t realize there was a deeper) level. You may be a ‘late’ bloomer..if so, you sure did bypass the buds and burst out as the whole bloomin’ bouquet! You truly are a Beaautiful Person, I am so richly blessed to have you in my life. My heart loves your heart. Thank you for being!
