Lift Me Up  |  Song # 171 | 7/20/91

I know you’re out there some where, you dancing warrior
I know you have a message for me like some mystic courier
When you call I get so far away, I get so out of sorts
You’re more patient than a rock, wiser than a tree,
Cooler than a corpse!

Refrain:
Lift me up into the devastating stillness of your eyes
Lift me up onto the rooftops and release me to the skies
Life me up into the lightness till the heaviness subsides
Lift me up…Lift me up…Lift me up…

A flower is a soldier and a butterfly is a thief
A sidewalk is a desert that heaves and buckles in the heat
My thirst is like a canyon and I cannot find relief
So I pray for a cooling breeze to blow on these melting city streets

Refrain:

Bridge:
Love is tenderness, love is war
Love is loneliness, love is more
Love is magical, love is a chore
Love is the ceiling and love is the floor

A crow can wear a thousand masks but a sparrow merely sings
The world is more than what we see and every thought has wings
I challenge you to answer me and tell me what it means
Instead you dare me to wait like glass and see what the Spirit brings

Refrain:

Commentary: This song is from my Visions & Voices CD and is heavily influenced by the writings of Carlos Castaneda. Far from being some weird new age mumbo jumbo I found the concepts contained in his books to be crystal clear and practical for helping one get one’s head out of one’s butt! One of the key concepts was the step by step elimination of self importance and self pity. Indulging in self pity sucks tremendous amounts of energy from us and is the antithesis of what a spiritual warrior is all about. One of the Toltec challenges given to Castaneda by his teacher, Don Juan Matus, was to erase personal history. Castaneda was left to his own devices to figure out how to do that. I believe NLP (neuro linguistic programming) is “how” to erase personal history. By that I mean NLP gives us specific and precise tools to clear the negative and heavy influence of our past. You’ve heard someone say “He has a lot of baggage.” haven’t you? Lift me up is all about letting go of that baggage, erasing the personal history that drags us down and limits us. Raven Had A Conversation With The Moon

Raven Had A Conversation With the Moon, A Song by Mark Shepard

Raven Had a Conversation With the Moon

12/20-22/2007 |

Song #377

Raven had a conversation with the moon
He asked her “is there a certain tune
I can sing to convince the sun to return
Without getting my feathers burned?”

one .....To.....One....two.....to.....One

Raven was having dinner with a lovely crow
He said, “There are things that we both know but we don’t know how we know, and furthermore there is no such thing as a ‘coincidence’”
And she knew right then that he wanted to get into her...

one .....To.....One....two.....to.....One

Raven had an appointment with a dream
He told her “we are more than what we seem
Perception is projection if you get the drift of what I mean
Let the parts come together without a single seam...

one .....To.....One....two.....to.....One

Raven demanded an answer from the air
I can’t see you so how do I know you’re really there?
And instead of giving an evasive or defensive reply,
She simply... rolled her eyes

one .....To.....One....two.....to.....One

Raven had an argument with the wind
Can you tell me where you begin and where I end?
Are you my lover or just more than a friend?
To which the wind said “baby now that all depends....”

one .....To.....One....two.....to.....One

Raven, had a discussion with a dove
You are of the same stuff that I’m made of
But you are white and I’m black, you are yin to my yang
And he closed his eyes and opened up his heart as he sang

one .....To.....One....two.....to.....One

Raven had a conversation with the moon
He asked her “is there a particular tune
I can sing to convince the sun to go away
She looked at him and said…”not today.”
