There Is Always A Way – Sprite Song

Yet ANOTHER song for Jill Jaysen’s new musical “BeautyFull”. This song is song by the forest sprites who find Iris, who has been ostracized from the Kingdom of Conformity for “not fitting in”. She’s about to discover that getting kicked out of the Kingdom of Conformity is basically the best thing that could happen to her…

World premiere is June 12th, 2010! Westport CT, The Seabury Center.

Lyrics:

There Is Always A Way (Sprite Song) 4/27/2010 |Song #419

Part 1:
Oh to be a Sprite
And fill the world with light
To fill the world with light and love and laughter

Oh to be a Sprite
And shine so very bright
Shine so very bright forever after…
[repeat as necessary then slow and fade]

Part 2:
How do you take graffiti on the wall of life
And turn it into poetry?
How do you take a tub of sloppy mud
And spin it into pottery?

How can you be true to who you are
Even when your life feels like a mess
How can you dream upon a star
And build a strong foundation for success?

That’s where I come in Baby!
I’m the Sprite of Possibility
That’s where we come in Baby!
We are the Sprites of Possibility
We are the solution to your personal evolution
Creativity, Positivity, Originality,
Relativity, Curiosity, Ingenuity
Sensitivity, Opportunity, Inner Beauty,
(By The Way, that was a hint!)

We’re gonna help you clear your mind
And get out of your own way
And you know you’re going to find
That there is always a way…

Refrain:
There is always a way
There is always a way
There is always a way…
To get back home

The secret is… there is no secret
The answers are inside of you
Instead of trying to be like everyone else
What would it be like to simply be your self?

You kept getting tangled up in avoiding “different”
So that you could feel special and important
And you seem to have missed the fact totally
That you are already full of beauty (that’s another hint!)

Refrain:
There is always a way
There is always a way
There is always a way…
To get back home

How do you take graffiti on the wall of life
And turn it into poetry?
How do you take a tub of sloppy mud
And spin it into pottery?

How can you be true to who you are
Even when your life feels like a mess?
How can you dream upon a star
And build a strong foundation for success?

Refrain:
There is always a way
There is always a way
There is always a way
There is always a way
There is always a way
There is always a way
There is always a way…
To get back home

Part 1:
Oh to be a Sprite
And fill the world with light
To fill the world with light and love and laughter

Oh to be a Sprite
And shine so very bright
Shine so very bright forever after

[Fade out…]

Entropy

I wrote this in 1982! And I always heard electric guitar on this in my head but only got one last week... (see! You are never too old!) It's a mystical song and quite prophetic because I didn't have a daughter at the time... She wasn't born until a few years later... I would love to see a video of this song and produce it fully... someday!

Would you PLEASE do me a favor? Share this song with somebody. It's been sitting in my mind for almost 30 years. Help me get it OUT! thanx! :o ) - Mark

Lyrics:

Entropy | Song # 59 | May-June 1982

Off on some empty desert
Stretch of Paradise
The wind in the gravel
Burdened me with this advice
“Catch yourself in falling Time
Then laugh and leave it all behind
The Universe is meaningless
Until you touch it with your Mind”

I remember wondering
And I still wonder to this day
What that dirt road statement
Really had at heart to say
Meanwhile the streets wait for a prophet
And the buildings wait for a saint
Some back alley poet
Makes his statement in spray paint

Refrain:
As we continue to move towards Entropy
The Shape of who we are
Changes radically
The only chance we have left is to pray endlessly
Or carry out some close Facsimile

“Beware of me! beware of me”
Sings the serpent in our dreams
We laugh out in the daylight
Till the dark starts leaking through the seams
Then we turn our eyes to science
Put our faith in “thinking Man”
We try to break alliance
With a god that we cannot command

Refrain:

Cacophony of honking horns
Agony of aching feet
Apocalypse at 5:00 PM
I try to keep my fear discreet
Look at me, look at yourselves
Look at everything we are
Then hold my daughter in your arms
And tell me what her chances are…

Refrain:

ABC's of Popularity

ANOTHER new song for the musical "BeautyFull". This one will be sung by the "popular girls" with the main popular girl (who becomes the "Queen" in the Kingdom of Konformity) basically strutting around while her Best Friends join in on the chorus and the "nerds" or "dorks" or uncool kids chime in from time to time on the chorus. Can't wait to have the kids sing this in character!!! BTW SAVE THE DATE!!! June 12th is the tentative show date! I'll  keep you posted.
