About This Song: (Lyrics below)
This is a song about the environment.
We humans as a species have so attacked and degraded the natural world that it can be a frightening thought.
Yet at the same time nature calls to us.
When we stop the futile attempt to “get all our stuff” or “keep up with the Jones’s” and listen to the still small voice of nature and the natural world, there is hope.
I don’t know about you but I’m more and more feeling the call to live more sustainably, sensibly, simply. Not from a place of moral superiority but from a sense of joy and wonder. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
It Calls To You
Song # 141 | 7/1/1990 | CD: Visions and Voices
Look outside your window
See the Breaking back of the earth
We’ve caged it with our bridges
And we sell it for it’s worth
It calls to you
It calls to you
It calls to you
It calls to you
We spit into it’s oceans
We dredge its river shoals
We circle it in our aeroplanes
We gouge it full of holes
It calls to you
It calls to you
It calls to you
It calls to you
Let me take you to an island
Where the water’s fresh and clear [It calls to you]
Where the silences are deafening
And No one else is near [It calls to you]
Where the grass grows green and fragrant
Where the forest knows no fear
It calls to you
It calls to you
It calls to you
It calls to you
When I walk through shining meadows
There’s a holiness I see
It calls to me
It calls to me
It calls to me…
