About This Song:
Over the years there have been many times, I’ve resisted the “spiritual” call to use my music for something good and bigger than myself.
But like a river flowing quietly in the darkness, the creative “Force” is patient and steady.
Lately I’ve been listening and taking action.
What have you resisted in your life that you know is ultimately for your highest good?
Pay attention. Listen. Follow it.
Listening To the River
Song # 153 | 8/20/1990 | CD: Eyes On The Horizon
Somehow I knew your name
Long before you came
Listening to the river in the dark
And how I know your pain,
Well, that’s not easy to explain
Listening to the river in the dark
Refrain:
To the River
To the River
Listening to the River in the dark
Oh To the River
Oh to the River
Listening to the River in the dark
When I was much younger
I thought it was fun to sit there
Listening to the river in the dark
But if it were now denied
I think that I would have to die
Listening to the river in the dark
Refrain:
I once met a man
Who I swear I could not stand
Listening to the River in the dark
But I learned more from him
Than 10 Cathedrals full of hymns
Listening to the River in the dark
Refrain:
If we cannot comprehend
At least we can pretend
By listening to the River in the dark
You may think you’re a woman or a man But you’re not
You’re just a grain of sand
Listening to the River in the Dark
Refrain:
Sometimes it’s hard for me
To just sit here patiently
Listening to the River in the dark
But patience is a sword
That reaps it’s own reward
Listening to the river in the dark
Refrain:
