This song is from my ill fated LP, “The Hesitant Journey” (someday I’ll reveal the full, juicy, gory details).
The idea was to do a theme album “from doubt to faith” and market it to the contemporary Christian music movement which was just getting started at the time…
Disclaimer: The problem with that was that being around born again Christians was really frustrating and annoying. Sorry to say. Fervently religious people are not the most open minded and experimental thinkers on the planet. If you are a loyal follower of this site hopefully you realize that by now. If you are offended by free speech, I respectfully ask you to please unsubscribe.
There. Now.
You will notice a discrepancy between the printed and sung words in the third verse. The “spiritual but not religious” printed ones here will be the ones I will record this with or perform this with in the future. Thanks!

Be A Little Bit Bolder
Song #65 | October 1982 | Recording: The Hesitant Journey
I don’t know why they say
Laughter is a sin
I way it’s the only way
We will ever truly get back home again
I remember looking at the Northern Lights
Dancing in the upper stratosphere
And I recall a thousand other smiling days and nights
That somehow or other brought me here
I carry my dreams upon my shoulder
I werar my hear upon my sleeve
And every day I’m just a little bit bolder
About the things that I believe
A man comes up to you and he says
“Diamonds are for real!”
So you buy yourself a flashy ring
And you discover it ain’t no big damn deal
Think back now to your childhood
What were the things that meant the most to you?
Cool sheets on hot summer nights
Or whether or not your old man’s car was new?
Carry your dreams upon your shoulder
Wear your heart upon your sleeve
And every day be just a little bit bolder
About the things that you believe…
Life is a journey
It is not a destination
You do not get a special prize
Just for making a good first impression
It don’t matter what side of town your from
It don’t matter how large your income is
I does matter who you are and where you’re going to
Let go of of all the fear and start to have some fun…
So let’s carry our dreams upon our shoulders
Let’s wear our hearts upon our sleeves
And every day let’s be a little bit bolder
About the things that we believe…
