About This Song (lyrics below)
Sometimes I need to listen to my own songs. LOL. Over the course of my lifetime, “patience” has never been one of my strengths. However, I am learning to be more patient with myself and this crazy thing that I do called “songwriting” that carries with it the built in challenge of pushing me to “honor” the songs…. Patiently. After all I am now in my 4th DECADE of writing songs.
I’m not “famous”, very, very few people know about them. So be it.
But I want to share something with you as well as myself so that I can remember it when I wonder why I keep grinding it out here day after day:
I have a facebook page that I share my “song of the day” on most days (when I’m not all travel “conflumixed” – not sure if that’s a real word or one I made up) and while I was away someone named Lisa, “liked” one of the songs. So I wrote to her personally and thanked her for being willing to listen.
She wrote back:
Your music has given me a sense of empowerment, and I’m forever thankful to you for that. I play your music to my five year old daughter so that your vocabulary can soak into her psyche. I would love to hear you live, if you are ever in Texas. Or, if you have your favorite live venues, perhaps we could venture to you? You’re such a blessing to those who discover your gift!
Lots of love, Lisa
Here is the most interesting part. She wrote to me while I was in California, at the very hotel where I took my NLP Practitioner Training in June/July of 2003. One of the other students in that class, Beverly Wenger, who owned a day spa in Texas at the time, invited me to come out that October and do some NLP/Hypnosis Training and a concert for her staff.
While I was there I met this amazing guy named Michael Baker who was one of her massage therapists on staff… Michael and I have stayed in touch over Facebook over the years but THIS Lisa who just wrote to me is dating Michael’s now grown son, Justice…
You can’t make this stuff up… Because I was at that hotel where I first met Beverly AND learned NLP, I was thinking about her and others I met that intense year. Somehow these energetic connections are being made ALL the time.
So PAY ATTENTION!
WE NEVER, EVER KNOW how and where or when the ripples of our personal influence radiate outward into the world. Most of us never hear back how a kind word or a helpful, positive thought can make a difference in someone else’s life.
Lisa also mentioned that Michael’s son “grew up” to my music and that it was important to enough to him to introduce it to her.
So a huge thank you to all of you who care about these songs. Thank you for sharing them with people who might need to hear them,
Thank you to Beverly Wenger====>Michael Baker ====> Justice Baker===> Lisa Ashcroft====>
It keeps me motivated. And we all need a little nudge and encouragement sometimes.
So “Be Patient With Your _____________” (you fill in the blank for whatever you have been working and visioning for your life).
Enjoy today’s Song of the Day!
