About This Song (lyrics below)
This song was recorded live in a small resonant church back in 1989… and expresses what in retrospect is some of my first self hypnosis songwriting… the person I address in the song could be you but it was actually ME at the time. I also recorded a slightly modified version of this in the studio with Joe Mennonna on my Thirsty For The Sky CD. I simply shifted a few of the lyrics to better reflect how your unconscious mind interprets different language patterns… so check that out as well. Arise, Arise Version 2
Arise, Arise (Version 1)
Song #82 | Fall 1985 | CD: Thirsty For The Sky (version2) | CD:Live Unknown (version 1)
Oh Dreamer of dreams
Painter of pictures
Look out your window
See the cars rush through the rain?
They do not stop beside the road just to complain
Arise, arise!
Why is it possible
For you to lose your call?
Was it something someone said?
Or did you have to fall so you could rise?
Arise, arise!
Refrain:
Arise. Arise!
Have your courage with you
Take it deep into the night
You will be shining
Lift your heart up to the sky
Do not allow your dreams to die
You must be climbing
You can no quit before you even have begun
You are the thoughts you think
And now is not the time for you to run!
Arise, arise!
Take a good lesson from the rising of the moon
He hoists himself into the sky
By his own tune
Arise, arise!
Refrain:
Now take your hopes and dreams
And raise them like a flag
Keep them always in your eyes
And never, ever let your spirits sag…
Arise, arise!
Refrain:
Oh dreamer of dreams
Painter of pictures…
Arise, arise…
