About this song:
Back in 1990, my son Andrew was pounding out this awesome melody on his toy piano. I asked him what the song was about and he said, “It’s about the Fall!”
I then started to literally write down everything else he said about Fall and just tweaked a little to fit into his melody and meter.
THIS Fall I had multiple Spiritual moments where the light was astonishingly lighting up EVERYTHING, from the Brick Chapel around the corner from my house to my favorite farm market, Adirondack Growers. So I added a verse about that.
I thought I’d have to search endlessly for one of those toy pianos… but luckily I have a Toy Piano sample in my Nord grand keyboard…
Andrew is now in his 30’s and emailed me, “Best song about the Fall EVER!!!!.”
Of course “Here Comes The Fall!” is ALWAYS gonna be running through my head EVERY September-October.
Although I didn’t exactly have this piece ready for Peak Leaf Peeking 2021, I got some GREAT video while the ideas were musically germinating… And there’s always next year… and the next… and the next….
Please help me get this music out there ok? Thanks :o)

Lyrics:
Here Comes the Fall
Life In Song #155 | by Andrew Shepard & Mark Shepard | 9/26/1990
Leaves on the trees will be turning to colors
Colors that fall from the trees to the ground
We will be picking them up before winter comes
We will have leaves for our growing collection
Refrain:
Oh here comes the Fall
Oh here comes the Fall
Oh here comes the Fall
Clouds make the rain and some very big shadows
and sometimes they even make monsters that float through the air
Soon it will snow from the insides of clouds
and the wind will come whistling
Quite softly and sometimes quite loud
Refrain:
The Pumpkins are gorgeous
The Gourds are outrageous
Stephanie’s doughnuts will haunt you until you SURRENDER
Apples and Cheddar Cheese
Soon there will be a freeze
Like it or not, it’s gonna be a summer ender!**
Refrain:
Leaves will be covering the ground just like highways
Highway of rhythm that lead to the lands of enchantment
We’ll run and we’ll jump and we’ll play in the leaves
While the mist on the river rolls up the valley like cotton
Refrain:
Bridge:
Followed by Winter
Followed by Spring
Refrain:
**new verse 9/22/21 inspired by Adirondack Growers
