I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For | U2 Cover Song
About This Song:
Every once in a while I experience the feeling of being “haunted” by a song that I didn’t write. I don’t mean that in a “halloween” way. I mean it in a kind of deep, spiritual way. Where a song or an idea just keeps following me around for hours or even days and weeks… okay maybe even YEARS (like the idea of starting a farm).
While I’ve always enjoyed U2 songs played on the radio I’ve never been a close listener of their stuff. I’ve always enjoyed and admired the fact that the band is “Christian” without being “heavy handed” about it. Their hearts have always seemed to me to be in the right place.
But this “haunting” wasn’t U2 singing their song. What triggered it was an international group of street musicians called, “Playing For Change” covering this classic to commemorate the Day of the Disappeared.
I watched their version four or five times while tears poured down my face. Music can do that to me sometimes. It somehow has the ability to open up raw places in our hearts and heal stuff we didn’t even know needed healing.
The song kept playing in my head for the next few days and I just HAD to sing and play it myself. I’ve been savoring it now since September which seems like a long time ago as the leaves are falling from the trees.
I sincerely hope it “haunts” you too (in the best possible way of course).
Peace, Love & Groovyness!

I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For
Written by U2. | Performed by Mark Shepard
I have climbed the highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you.
I have run, I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you.
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for.
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for.
I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her finger tips
It burned like fire
burning desire.
I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone.
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for.
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for.
I believe in the Kingdom Come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one.
But yes, I’m still running.
You broke the bonds
And you loosed the chains
Carried the cross of my shame
Oh my shame, you know I believe it.
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for.
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for.
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for.
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for.
