Please Note: This song is actually still in progress… It came in rather quickly between other songs and so I never really performed it or worked it enough to “hone” it’s focus and purpose… Typically when I set aside a song like this and let it just kind of “jell” in my unconscious mind, a decent song can become something transformative… So this is definitely a work in progress…I will record it next time I’m in the studio and will post the mp3 here as soon as it’s available…
I Came Here To Change Your Mind
Song #454 | September 2012
Look at the people walking down the street
Take a look at all those fools
Doing what they’ve all been sold to do…
Following all the rules
Looking at diamonds in the windows
Looking at the tvs in the store
Looking at all the home appliances
But is that what we came here for?
Refrain:
I may come from another planet
I may come from across the street
I may come from some other place in time
But I came here to change your mind
I came here to change your mind
You may climb the social ladder
You may climb the corporate heap
You may climb to the top of some damn tree
But you can just be yourself with me…because….
Refrain:
Now I’m not saying that these folks are fools
But they’re still following the rules
Still kissing ass like they did back in school
Under the illusion that they’re cool…
refrain:
You may come from another planet
You may come from across the street
You may come from another place in time
Don’t you think this is a sign?
Don’t you think this is divine?
Look at all the people on the street
So careful not to let their glances meet
Looking the tv’s in the windows
Looking at diamonds in the jewelry stores
Looking at cars shine on the show room floor
But there is so much more…
