This is another one of those “almost forgotten” songs of mine… It just came in from somewhere. I’ve never been a hobo or a long distance rider of the rails so it is probably the influence of Ray Bradbury’s classic book, “Fahrenheit 451” where he discovers other book lovers in exile living out on the land as hobos…
Interesting aside, when I typed in the word “hobo” in the stock photography service I use, NOTHING came up. I guess it’s not much of a career option these days LOL.

Wanderer
Song #129 | 5/30/1989 | CD: tbd
[Tuning: DADGAD]
My clothes are old but they are clean
Despite the traveling that they’ve seen
I recognize the distance in your eyes
You walk the way an eagle flies
I am still young but I have been around
I’ve seen the lost, I’ve seen the found
I have seen rivers, I’ve seen burning sand
I’ve been so weary I could not stand
Refrain:
I am a wanderer,
I’ll walk this dusty road until the end
You are a wanderer,
It’s good to meet a fellow traveler now and then
I have some food that I would share with you
It ain’t too fancy but it’s good
It helps to put the miles back in their place
It’ll soothe the worry on your face
You know you’re welcome to walk on with me
I know the best places to camp
Best thing about ’em is that they are free
You learn some things being a tramp
Refrain:
You can suit yourself, I never push a man
Everybody travels his own road
Its just that I appreciate your company
Sometimes its hard to be alone…
I will not ask you where you’re traveling
I will not ask you where you’re from
I would just like to your name my friend
Whan all’s been said and all’s been done.
Refrain:
