Still exploring songs from 1993…
This is one of those songs that just “came in.” I can’t remember if I was walking on the beach and picking up pretty stones to put on my window sill or mantle or just imagining walking on the beach and picking up stones… BTW your unconscious mind does not know the difference between imagining an event or living an event… but I certainly have done enough of BOTH in the past to sing about it…

Stone of Many Colors
Song #183 | 2/27/1993 | CD: tbd
If I were a Stone of many colors
And you bent to pick me from the land
If you saw me in the sunlight shining
I would gladly drop into your hand
And If I were a stone of many colors
and you were gladly fond of me
I would be yours to place upon the mantle
I would be yours to toss into the sea
Refrain:
If you held me to your bosom
And if you sweetly sang to me
I would be your stone of many colors
For all eternity…
And when I was worn down to a pebble
And then a tiny grain of sand
Would you forsake me for another?
Would you let me drop from our your hand?
Or would you keep me there beside you
In the stillness of the night?
Would you hold me high upon your finger
To catch the early morning light?
