Find Your Edges and Lean Into Them
I’m working on a new song. It’s almost done. It just needs a little fine tuning and about 100 more “plays” to see what it ultimately wants to be.
But it’s ready enough to play for you. I actually played it Tuesday night.
Here’s the first live performance of it anywhere
Song #518 “Rain”
It’s stuck in my head. It’s on “auto repeat” in my brain.
Looping over and over…
Find your edges and lean into them
Even if you fall down…
Seek your ledges and climb up to them
Start right now….
Over. and over. and over.
That’s my self talk today. Yesterday too. Day before too…
That’s why I don’t watch TV or Listen to Radio or other music than my own.
Because the sound track is running in my head and it’s literally changing my life because it is changing my focus.
Now. It doesn’t mean everything is always easy for me or that I don’t screw up.
I almost put this into the song…
“Fail early and often.” One of the best “motivational speaker cliches” out there. Love it.
Cliches are cliches for a reason. They usually contain some kind of truth.
The problem is most people MOUTH the cliche while missing the gift of wisdom which is putting ideas into action and adjusting as you get “feedback” Most people see “failure” where I’ve been training myself to see “feedback”.
Looking back at my life I have “FAILED” early and OFTEN.
The only way to avoid so much failure is to have experience (or a good mentor).
The only way to get experience (or to even be able to find a good mentor) is to fail.
Early and Often.
Failure means you are taking action into what is unknown for you.
Another couple of lines in the song:
Brush your self off and get up again
You’ve got work to do
Love yourself Until your love is true.
True for you.
So I’ve set myself a pretty high bar for the next 90 days.
You will probably see me putting my ideas and goals into action.
You may see me fall short or succeed wildly.
Either way it’s the same.
What you will see is me taking action…
Won’t you join me?
Your assignment today (should you choose to accept it) is to email me one single goal you want to work on over the next 90 days. That’s it. What are you working on that you want to improve in your life, your work, your body, your relationships? Click here for more info about Transformation Tuesday and the 90 Day Challenge
And play this song again and again… it’s actually a powerful hypnosis session.
I can’t wait to get into the studio with this and turn Joe Mennonna loose on it… I hear a blisteringly hot saxophone solo… among other grooves… Plus there’s a part on the guitar that is REALLY challenging for me. I don’t yet play it as well as I want to… we call that Practice… :o)
This is all PRACTICE.
Have a great practice today.
Love you!
– Mark

Rain
Song #518 | 7/15/16
Rain, rain, rain…
Find your edges
and lean in to them
Even if you fall down
Seek your ledges
and climb up to them
You can start right now
Rain, rain, rain…
Let go of what
You can not control…
It’s not so strange
The world believes
What you believe about your self…
Expand your range
Rain, rain, rain…
We make up stories
and then shout them out…
As if they are true…
Every “dead end”
Is new way out
Dare to walk through
Rain, rain, rain…
Brush your self off
And get up again
You have work to do
Love yourself
Until your love is true
Until it’s true for you
Rain, rain, rain…
Find your edges and lean in to them…
even if you fall down
Find your edges and lean in to them…
Find your edges and lean in to them…
Rain, rain, rain…
lean in to the rain…
Rain, rain, rain…
lean in to the rain…
