Why Does Music Make Us Cry?

April 8, 2018 · healing songs, Mark's Thoughts, rain songs, Videos

Why does it? Seriously. Why does music make us cry?

I’m watching a video on YouTube: Cory Henry Performs Purple Rain W/ Metropole Orchestra Live at North Sea Jazz Festival 2017

And tears are streaming down my face.

I don’t feel sad.

I am not having a bad day.

I am delighting in this young musician, singing his heart out… and people are being moved in the audience… deeply.

Purple Rain. A Song that I listened to once upon a time… The summer of 1984. Driving to Michigan. Purple Rain. Something about the melody haunted us even then. Purple Rain. While Prince was alive. And with his early passing. It Does something else now.

Purple Rain…

I don’t know Why this song makes me cry. I don’t know why some music does that… Moves us. But it does. and I love that. Enjoy this with your favorite brand of tissue…
