Today is my son Andrew’s 30th birthday. And this is the song I wrote upon his arrival on May 30, 1985…
It is simply hard to express the intensity of feelings and emotions the arrival of a new child brings. At the time his birth I was 24 years old. Scared. Insecure. Confused. Not sure how to grow up enough to be a good dad…
And now he is older than me!
Feeling deep, deep gratitude that this energy being came into the world to hang out and learn with… He has taught me so much.

A Child Is Born
Song #78 | May 30, 1985 | CD: “Live Unknown” & “New Songs/Ancient Stories”
She tells me I’ll have to mind my manners
When the Child arrives
I tell her I’ll only be responsible
Until the Child smiles
Oh the laughter, there laugher fills us up inside
And makes us feel alive
Oh the tears, the tears of joy that come and go
And then decide to stay for a while
Refrain:
Tell my your secrets
I’ll tell you mine
Daylight comes early
And oh, I feel fine!
A child is born
Oh my son, I love the way look at me
When you first awake
I love the way, I love the way you frail your arms
And the funny, sunny sounds you make
Refrain:
And the days, the days and nights that bough us here
Blend into something that resembles time
Oh hold my tight, I always want to be with you
My love , I always want you to be mine.
Refrain:
