98 Babe You Gotta Tell Me

34419728_sAnother rough diamond from the “archives”… This song is a lot of fun (in a slightly awkward, uncomfortably nerdy way).

But of course it illustrates how much I didn’t know about male/female dynamics… Back in 1988… I figured this one out just last year!

Evidently women find men who “ask permission” and “chase them” to be “low status” and sexually unattractive… destined for the dreaded “friend zone”…

Who knew?

If the guy in the song just said, “Hey Babe, I’m doing ___________ today, you should come along. You’ll have fun…” And provided just a wee bit of LEADERSHIP, she would have certainly worked on her resume some other time…

But then, it wouldn’t be THIS song would it?… LOL… FYI, I wrote that OTHER song much later… and I might share it with you tomorrow… if you’ve earned it AND I happen to feel like it… ROFL

Babe You Gotta Tell Me

Song #98 | 2/28/1988 | CD: nope

Oh Baby!
I’ll take you to the racetrack
I’ll take up town to the zoo
I’ll take you anywhere and bring you back
But you gotta tell me what you want to do!

Refrain:
Oh baby, save me, tell me what you want to do
Oh baby, save me, tell me what you want to do

I’ll take you strolling on the sidewalk
I’ll take you down to the sea
I’ll take you anywhere in New York
I’d even go to New Jersey!

Refrain:

Let’s take a trip to California
See if we can get on T.V.
Or we can bop on up to central park and
Give our money to a mugger for free!

Refrain:

I could take you to a health food restaurant
I could take you to a hot dog stand
I could take you to a broadway musical
Or we could hear a hot mariachi band

Refrain:

Bridge:
Oh baby do you want to rock and roll?
Oh baby do you want shoo the moon?
Oh baby do you want to dance the blues?
Oh babe you gotta tell me pretty soon…

Oh baby, babe you got tell me
What you really want to do today
What babe?! You say you want to stay at home
And work on your RESUME?!?!?!?!

Refrain:

For me these songs are transformational lessons in self-love…

Dear Mark, THANK YOU for sending *Spark & Flame*!!!! This CD certainly is a compilation of Conscious Love Songs! As I listen I am transported to memory after memory past, present and future, fulfilled and unfulfilled. I was flooded with many different emotions. I cried, laughed, held my breath and also breathed deep heart-centered breaths of connection to the Divine. I feel joy, grief, sadness, compassion, love, awe, freedom, kindness, gratitude and appreciation. For me these songs are transformational lessons in self-love, releasing, acceptance for what was, what is and who I am. Knowing that I am enough and that I am Divinely Loved.

You have put a grown man in tears…

Mark, this song and message really hit home for me today. You have put a grown man in tears. Thank You for what you do. Sometimes I think you sound kind of cheesy, and then others, I think you are a genius, and I’m beginning to realize that you actually care about helping people. So hard to “get out of your own way” sometimes…thanks for the reminder.

Jeremy

Been singing the chorus since the first day I heard it…

I sh*t you not when I say I’ve been singing the chorus to Honest Rock since the first day I heard it. I sing this every single day. Many times a day. Seriously. It’s like a mantra to me. It soothes me:-)
